2020 Neshoba County Fair cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns

The 2020 Neshoba County Fair has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement was made by the Neshoba County Fair Association, the organizers of ‘Mississippi’s Giant Houseparty’, on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

The 131st annual edition of the fair was set to take place from July 24-31. Each year, in addition to all the staples of a typical fair, politicians descend upon Philadelphia, Mississippi to give speeches in ‘Founders Square’ and campaign signs fill the fairgrounds. This year would likely have been no different ahead of the Presidential election and Mississippi Congressional elections.

The organizer’s post states that an official statement is “forthcoming.”
