After serving on an interim basis since May 2020, John Rounsaville has been named as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Development Authority.

“He’s done an exceptional job in his interim capacity,” Governor Reeves said during today’s announcement. “He’s earned the respect of Mississippi businesses across the state, because they know he’s pulling for them. And he’s helped us win in the competition for jobs and expansions.”

Despite the challenges of the past year brought on by the pandemic, several exciting new job-creating expansions were announced in Mississippi, headlined by companies like Amazon, UPS, Navistar, and many others.

Prior to arriving at MDA Rounsaville served as the the State Director for USDA Rural Development following an appointment by President Donald Trump.

A military veteran, he holds many distinctions for his military service, including the Air Force Meritorious Service, Commendation, and Achievement Medals, Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, and Mississippi War Medal. He also currently serves as a JAG and Major at the 186th in the Mississippi Air Force National Guard.
