Mississippi election results certified by state leaders

On Friday morning, Governor Tate Reeves certified victories in the four Mississippi Supreme Court races, solidifying the state’s 2020 General Election results.

Overall, it was a monumental year at the polls as Mississippi voters chose to implement a medical marijuana program, adopt a new state flag, as well as rid of a Jim Crow era law that had been in effect since 1890.

Below, you can find the results for both the ballot measures and the political races.

Ballot Measure #1 – Medical Marijuana

For either medical marijuana program: 68.4% – Winner

Against both medical marijuana programs: 31.6%

Initiative 65: 73.6% – Winner

Alternative 65A: 26.4%

Ballot Measure #2 – Statewide Election Process

For the amendment of statewide election process: 79% – Winner

Against the amendment of statewide election process: 21%

Ballot Measure #3 – New State Flag

In favor of the “In God We Trust” flag: 72.8% – Winner

Against the “In God We Trust” flag: 27.2%

Presidential Election

Joe Biden (D) – 40%

*President Donald Trump (R) – 60% – Winner in Mississippi

U.S. Senate

Mike Espy (D) – 43.6%

Cindy Hyde-Smith (R) – 54.6% – Winner

Jimmy Edwards (L) – 1.8%

1st Congressional District

Antonia Eliason (D) – 31.2%

*Trent Kelly (R) – 68.8% – Winner

2nd Congressional District

Brian Flowers (R) – 34.9%

*Bennie Thompson (D) – 65.1% – Winner

3rd Congressional District

Dorothy Dot Benford (D) – 35.2%

*Michael Guest (R) – 64.8% – Winner

Supreme Court Justice – District 1 (Central)

*Kenny Griffis – 50.9% – Winner

Latrice Westbrooks – 49.1%

Supreme Court Justice – District 3 (Northern)

*Josiah Coleman – 63.4% – Winner

Perry Lynchard – 36.6%
