MSDH confirms 795 new COVID-19 cases, 7 additional deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 795 new cases of COVID-19.

Todays report brings the states total up to 113,876. With the confirmation of 7 additional deaths, 3,238 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

Overall hospitalizations continue to hover around 600 in the latest data from the MSDH.

Thursday, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs stated that Mississippi is entering a new phase of the pandemic.

Without a doubt, were going into a fall surge. Its undeniable. All the indicators are moving in the wrong direction. Were seeing more cases. Our deaths are starting to creep upand our hospitalizations are increasing pretty rapidly, Dobbs said.

As of Monday, an estimated 97,675 have recovered from COVID-19.
